6 Days Uganda Birding Safari

The 6 Days Uganda Birding safari trip takes you prime birding locations in Entebbe Environments, Mabamba Wetlands, Lake Mburo National Park, and Queen Elizabeth National Park. This inclusive safari caters to birders of all levels, guided by an experienced birding instructor with extensive knowledge of both avian and wildlife species. Traverse diverse habitats, including wetlands, savanna grasslands, rivers, and lakes.

Day 1: Arrival and Hotel Transfer

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by Pamoja Tours and Tours. Your driver/guide will provide a briefing on the upcoming 6-day Uganda Birding Safari. Enjoy a transfer to Via via Guesthouse for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Birding in Entebbe Area

Embark on a full day of birding around Entebbe, exploring the Botanical Gardens and Uganda Wildlife Education Center. Encounter a variety of species, including the Superb Sunbird, Olive, Olive-Bellied, Green-Throated, and Collard Sunbird, as well as Orange, Slender-Billed, Black-Headed, Yellow-Backed, and Golden-Backed Weavers. 

Day 3: Birding in Mabamba Swamp and Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Begin the day with a drive to Mabamba Swamp, known for the iconic Shoebill Stork and other water birds. Spot African and Lesser Jacana, Allen’s and Purple Gallinule, Yellow-Billed Duck, and more. Later, journey to Lake Mburo National Park with birding en-route, making special stops at points like Kaaku Swamp. Arrive at Rwakobo Rock for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Birding and Game Viewing in Lake Mburo

Explore the grasslands for bird species like the Brown-Chested Plover, Coqui, Crested Francolin, and Red-Faced Barbet. Enjoy game viewing with opportunities to see Zebra, Eland, Topis, Impalas, and other wildlife. In the afternoon, embark on a boat ride in search of the African Finfoot. 

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth

Drive to Queen Elizabeth NP, with an afternoon boat ride on Kazinga Channel. Experience close encounters with Hippos, Crocodiles, and a variety of water birds. Spot African Spoonbill, African Skimmer, Temminck’s Courser, Martial Eagle, and more. Explore the crater area in the afternoon before heading to Irungu Forest Safari Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer Back to Kampala/Entebbe

After breakfast, drive back to Entebbe for your air transfer, marking the conclusion of your 6-day Uganda Birding Safari. Reflect on the birding adventures and diverse landscapes encountered during this enriching journey.
